Topaz

Topaz is a popular and durable gemstone due to its brilliance and hardness (8 at Moh scale). Natural widespread Topaz gemstones are usually colourless and sometimes called “silver topaz”. But, topaz also come in other natural colours such as Blue (rare), Golden, Red, Pink (rare) and yellow. Blue (also Pink) topaz mostly gets its colour by irradiation or heating process because natural blue is very rare to find.

One uniqueness of the topaz is its ability to build a distinct electrical charge when heated or rubbed. Topaz was believed to have healing powers in ancient times, however modern society still tend to consider this when collecting. There are a number of countries produce quality topaz including Brazil, Russia, Madagascar, Sri Lanka, Japan, and USA.
