Spinel

Natural Spinel is a highly regarded gemstone among gemmologists worldwide. It has a long history attached to it and comes in various colours including (but not limited to) Purple, Red, Pink, Blue and Black. With a Moh hardness of 8, it is a durable, fabulous looking stone for any jewellery type. Ancient times, Spinels were mistaken for Rubies and Sapphires and used as imperial jewels. Famously, a Spinel was mistaken for a Ruby (called “Timur Ruby”) and used as a British Crown Jewel. Also, Spinels were used as crown jewels in French and other British Imperials. Modern Gemmological testings were later found those Rubies as Spinels. ruby-red colour and black star Spinels are rare types of Spinels.
